The full-day tour is the most popular option, departing early from Monterrey to maximize time at the destination.

Typical itinerary:

• 6:00 am — Departure from Monterrey (door-to-door pickup or meeting point)
• 9:30 am — Arrival, reserve briefing
• 10:00 am – 1:00 pm — Río Los Mezquites: swimming, endemic turtles, aquatic wildlife
• 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm — Lunch in town (on your own: cabrito, machaca, regional cuisine)
• 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm — Poza Azul or Marble Mines
• 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm — Gypsum Dunes at sunset — the visual highlight
• 7:30 pm — Departure back to Monterrey
• ~11:00 pm — Arrival back in Monterrey

Day 2: Poza Azul + Marble Mines + Las Playitas + nighttime stargazing dinner

Everything from the 1-day tour, plus: hotel accommodation (double or single room), regional breakfast on day 2, and the stargazing dinner at Las Playitas.

Why Take a Tour Instead of Going Independently?

Driving independently is perfectly viable — the roads are good and signage is clear. Even so, organized tours carry concrete advantages:

Timing matters more than most expect. Arriving at the Gypsum Dunes at midday versus sunset is the difference between flat photographs and spectacular ones. The itinerary is designed with this in mind: every location is visited at its optimal moment.

For groups, it is often less expensive. Splitting transport costs among 8–16 people frequently makes the tour less costly per person than renting multiple cars and paying separately for gas, tolls, and entrance fees.

Departure Schedule

Shared tours depart every weekend (Saturday and Sunday) year-round. Private tours can be scheduled on any day of the week with at least five days’ notice.
