White sand that shines like snow, set in the middle of the Coahuila desert. Only three landscapes like it exist on Earth — and one is a four-hour drive from Monterrey.

What looks like snow in the middle of the desert is, in fact, pure gypsum (selenite): the mineral behind construction plaster, crystallized over millions of years as an inland sea evaporated. The result is 800 hectares of pure white sand, bright enough to require sunglasses, with a texture that crunches differently underfoot and turns amber at sunset.
This gypsum dune ecosystem exists at only three points on the planet: White Sands in New Mexico, a smaller system in Iran, and here, in Cuatro Ciénegas. Unlike White Sands, there are no crowds, no sprawling parking lots, no souvenir stands — only silence, wind, and 25 meters of dune rising in front of you.
We drive you here
We handle the road. We pick you up in Monterrey, at Monterrey International Airport or in Saltillo and drive you to Cuatro Ciénegas in a private vehicle, round trip or one way. You choose the day and the departure time.
Your visit to the Gypsum Dunes is yours to plan: entrance fees are paid directly on site and guided tours are arranged locally with the on-site operators. We only do the transfer — no imposed itinerary and no sharing the vehicle with strangers.

Long shadows
Raking light creates dramatic shadows on the dunes. The white-golden contrast is stunning and unlike anything you've photographed before.
Human scale
Place a person on the summit for scale — without that reference, the brain can't process the magnitude of what you're seeing in the frame.
Clean blue sky
Before 5pm the blue sky contrasts perfectly with the white sand for vibrant, high-impact shots.
Bring an ND or polarizing filter to control overexposure — the white sand reflects enormous amounts of light and will blow out unprotected shots.

The gypsum dunes harbor endemic species adapted only to this ecosystem. Do not remove sand, leave no trash, and always follow the marked paths. This landscape took millions of years to form and cannot be restored once damaged.
